Construction Alert: Thackeray Avenue and Engineering Department Drive to Close Tuesday, March 25

Thackeray Avenue and Engineering Department Drive will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 to enable work at Benedum Hall. The western sidewalk (Benedum Hall side) will be closed as well, but the eastern sidewalk (GSCC & Thackeray Hall side) will remain open.

Parking along these streets will not be available at this time. This includes access to the University Club and Pittsburgh Science & Technology Academy parking lots.  We encourage you to review what parking options may be available to you instead.

Cyclists should be aware that the O’Hara Street bike lane is closed as well. We recommend that cyclists traveling to this area dismount from their bicycle/scooter/etc. and walk along the sidewalk. We ask that you please do not cycle on the sidewalk to ensure a safe environment for pedestrians.  The bike racks at Benedum Hall along Thackeray Avenue will also not be accessible. For alternative bike storage locations, please refer to the bike map to find convenient options.

Building entrances along the western sidewalk of Thackeray Avenue will not be available at this time; please use alternate entries. For Benedum Hall, please use the O’Hara Street Entrance.

The loading dock on Engineering Department drive will remain open.

Since O’Hara Street is also closed at this time, drivers traveling West along O’Hara Street should utilize University Place as a detour.

Flaggers will be present at the Fifth Avenue and O’Hara Street intersections with Thackeray Avenue as well as on Engineering Department Drive.
